Who are we? City of Peace is a neighbourhood church on the Isle of Dogs with people from all different backgrounds. The church originally started in partnership with Café Forever and the London City Mission in 2002. London City Mission is an inter-denominational Christian organisation, so we don’t have any official ties to a particular denomination. However, we have good relationships with the other churches on the Isle of Dogs including Christ Church, St. Luke’s, St. Peter’s Barge, and Quaystone Church.
What do we believe? Put simply, we believe that it’s through Jesus Christ that we find freedom, truth and fulfilment in this life and the next. Broadly speaking, the Apostle’s creed is an excellent summation of our beliefs as a church.
Why do we exist? We exist as a community of faith to love God and to love our neighbours.
Where are we headed? Our hope doesn’t rest in building a great church, as much as helping to create a safe, just and beautiful community and we believe that the message of Jesus is central to this. This isn’t an easy task given the development on the Isle of Dogs!
City of Peace Community Church is a registered charity (1114921) and we’re a member of the Evangelical Alliance and Partnership.
